Lärande prov fortsättning

Poängen med lärande prov är att man visar eleven på förhand vad som är målet och låter dem pröva sina redan existerande kunskaper så att de sedan kan koncentrera sig på det som de inte kan. De får också feedback och äger bedömningen istället för att bli bedömda av en annan (läraren). De får flera chanser och kan hålla på tills kursen är slut. Provens art möjliggör högre nivåer på kunskap eftersom eleverna inte "åker dit" utan får ett tydligt mål att jobba mot.

Lärande prov

Har använt mig av lärande prov i undervisningen denna termin. Proven är Fronterprov som kan rättas automatiskt. Eleverna har ca 20 min på sig att jobba med proven (tiden räknas ner) och de får en chans per dag. När de är klara får de resultatet direkt - dock inga rätta svar.

Har märkt att en del elever tilltalas av detta sätt att studera. De får feedback direkt.

Pupils don´t know the difference between smartphone and ordinary mobiles

I have noticed that many pupills don't know the difference between smartphones and ordinary mobiles - even though they bought the latest version of Iphone or Android!

They know that they can download games and go out on the internet and look at Youtube. Few are aware that their phone actually is a computer and see the many possibilities they have with the many APPs available.

I have therefore started to actively integrate the mobiles in my lessons.

Euphorus again

Have sent mail to our ICT coordinator to draw to her attention that the licens for the Euphorus service is only licensed to Konvux and must be overtaken by the e in order for the other schools to use the service.

Students kicked out when trying to turn in test

Two students were kicked out of Fronter at two different occations when trying to turn in tests in Fronter.

Their class mates didn't experience the same problems. Going through the checklist revealed:
* They had the same "rights" in the room and folder as their classmates.
* They had turned in the exam on time and used the program correctly.
* They had used different computers both times which worked for the others.

The answer must lie in their accounts setting. Have given the case to one of our techs.

Fronter

Have noticed that the collegues is using Fronter more and more. I've noticed a spin off-effect where people share knowledge and teach each other.

This is possible because of the education that has been directed to them. Always fun to see how things bear fruit.

Frontpage in 1:1 course room

Am creating a "1:1 course-room" in Fronter with a frontpage. The Frontpage has the colours and logo of the school and has links to all the content ; logbooks, documents, tests, material, links, tasks and hand-in folders.

All the tools on the lefthand side on the screen will be made invisible so that the only thing the student will see is the Frontpage.

Success! Surfzone is working.

The IT-department has been working during the summer and configurations has been made to allow Android telephones on the zone. Now we can apply the things we have tested off-line.

Mobile learning

Having a project in my school investigating how smartphones can be used in teaching-learning process. We bought three Motorola Milestone Droid (android 2.0) and tested apps and using them in education.


So far we found lots of APPs that are exellent: Scan2PDF, gTask, FoxNote, Mobisle Notes, Seesmic, GoogleBuzz, 3banana, Gdocs, Aldiko, ActionComplete, wpToGo, PDFView, OffiView,Droidbox (dropbox)Meebo IM and Dolphine Browser just to mention a couple...
We encountered problem with our surfzone however and but are fixing it.
Another discovery was that the students was quite poorly oriented in the capacity of their phones and the most basic programs like calender and to-do lists. Therefor we have to develope a strategy and tasks that help the students methodically explore and use these programs.

News about the surfzone

Got a message from the IT-unit of Kungsbacka which told me my case was closed. After som mailtrafic with my boss, me, another boss and the IT-unit,  I got "ok" from IT-unit of Kungsbacka to make an extra order outside their normal and formal obligation and order a configuration for a couple of smart phone models which will make it possible to use the surfzone. Finally.

Was at the IHM business school in a course preparing for 1 to 1. Last time I was there, I couldn't access their surfzone. This time however, they had fixed the problem, all within a short period. What can I say? There is obviously different standards and approaches in how to meet customers needs. I know at least who  gainef the extra customers.

7/3/2010 Den nya sortens batterier

Har fått veta att den nya sortens batterier som finns i t.ex Iphone och Motorolas Droid mår bäst av att laddas ofta och så högt som möjligt. De skall helst inte tömmas! Bäst lär vara att ladda upp dem till 100% vid 60%.

Ephorus

The municipality has bought a licens for Ephorus, which is connected to Fronter. However, the licens is only for "convux", which is futher education for adults. Going to contact them for a password. Was contacted by Ephorus personally (great service)

Använda det man har

Har upptäckt att många inte använder sina telefoner fullt ut. Flera av de “gamla” telefonerna kan surfa på vår surfzon och andra öppna nätverk.

Dessutom har de flesta mobilerna användbara verktyg som kan användas i studiesyfte, t.ex kalenderprogram som kan påminna eller anteckningsprogram som kan “synka” med webben och “att-göra-listor” som hjälper en att organisera och dela upp större arbeten eller projekt i små delmål som sedan bockas av.

Bloggen - inställningar

Har ändrat utseendet så att bloggen har Aranäsfärgerna etc.

APPS

Det fins en del intressanta APPS som eleverna kan ha nytta av, bl.a:

"Kote-Lite" - Anteckningar med möjlighet till sync och påminnelse.

"CoursePro" - Eleverna lägger upp sina kurser och uppgifter och får påminnelser. Det verkar även finnas en möjlighet att skriva upp sina bedömningar och mål och se en uvecklingskurva - detta är dock inte helt undersökt än och systemet verkar vara enligt amerikansk modell. Detta kan eventuellt användas ändå?

"wpToGo" - Skrivprogram - ej färdigundersökt.

"gTask" - Taskmanagerprogram. Håller på och undersöker.

"Tag ToDo" - Taskmanagerprogram. Håller på och undersöker.

APPs som inte var bra:

"Notebook" - För enkel.

"SchoolDroid" - För enkel. Har ej möjlighet att överblicka mer än tre dagar. Man missar hela poängen med planering då speciellt på långtidsuppgifter.

blogger-gadget works - but a bit clumsy

You go to Igoogle and choose "blogger" and select one of the blogs. It automaticly finds blogger.com. It´s a bit of bummer that the gadget is clumsy and you have to change settings rather than having a neat list of blogs when posting.

New gadget on google make posting by mail easier. Excellent! (Radiant!)
